September Sports Roundup
We've had an active and energetic start to the school year here in Scoil Mhuire, with pupils from 4th to 6th Class proudly representing our school in both Gaelic football and cross-country events.
Our senior football teams - made up of pupils in 5th and 6th Class - competed with great enthusiasm in the Cumann na mBunscol competitions. While our first senior team were unfortunate not to progress beyond the group stages of the Championship, they displayed fantastic teamwork and determination throughout. Our second senior team performed brilliantly, finishing second in the Cumann na mBunscol league. Across all matches we were consistently impressed by the boys’ commitment, dedication, and sportsmanship, as well as the high level of skill shown on the field of play.
Earlier this week our cross-country team - made up of pupils from 4th Class - represented the school in the Brother Cross-Country Event. They showed great resilience and team spirit on what was a challenging course, and we couldn’t be prouder of their performance. One Scoil Mhuire pupil even managed a podium finish... a fantastic achievement!
A sincere thank you to all involved in this positive start to our sporting year - to the parents who provided lifts to games and offered support from the sidelines, to the members of staff who dedicated so much time to training and supporting the boys, and to the pupils who represented the school so capably - congratulations, all.
